Bifora JB-60

I have already reported on the presentation of the Bifora JB-60 at the beginning of November 2014. The clock with the work from my year of birth did not let go of me, so I was able to secure a copy in anthracite shortly before Christmas.

In keeping with the clock I found in my archive a calendar book of the advertising agency Eberle from Schwäbisch Gmünd, which published this in the year 2000 to the 50th anniversary of the company "Opa, Papa & Friends". Since the agency also made the advertising for Bifora in the 50s and 60s, there are some nice motifs around the clock.

The polished 316L stainless steel watch case is made in Pforzheim. It has a diameter of 42 mm. The bracelet of German manufacture is made of vegetable tanned leather. The new Bifora logo with a "B" and a semicircle is located on the folding clasp.

The work is a Bifora caliber 130 from 1965. This was then the successor of the famous "Unima" Chronometer caliber 120. It has a diameter of 13 lines. The classic manual hoist with hour, minute and central seconds has 18000 A / h (half-vibrations per hour), 17 rubies, a Haas spiral and the Bifora-Bischock shock protection. The reserve is about 50 hours. Of caliber 120 it also inherited the relatively large balance which contributes to the high degree of accuracy of the movement. The old original works were overhauled and refined by a watchmaker in Glashütte. The refinement of the gilded work includes glash nut strips on the elevator and gear bridge, sun shading on the pinion and crown wheel as well as on the balance cock on the balance cock.

The watch is equipped with a slightly domed, non-reflective sapphire crystal. A lateral phase allows for interesting refractions.

Also on the crown is the new Bifora logo.
